What does Charlotte Latin cost beyond tuition?
Six line items appear on the school's fee schedule beyond the four tuition rates. The $2,500 enrollment deposit is the largest and is credited against tuition. A class trip advance payment of up to $710 applies to grades 5 to 8 and grade 12. Student accident insurance is $75 and optional, billed in June. The optional Tuition Refund Plan costs 0.53% of tuition, also billed in June. Tuition not received by the due date carries a 1.5% monthly service charge, and unpaid miscellaneous balances carry the same 1.5% a month, or 18% a year.
The school does not publish prices for textbooks in grades 6 to 12, transportation, or the Extended Day and enrichment programs, so a family should budget for those separately. Charlotte Latin's page lists no application fee. Its two closest peers do charge one for financial aid applications: Providence Day and Charlotte Country Day each charge $65 through the Clarity platform.
How does Charlotte Latin compare with Providence Day, Country Day and Charlotte Christian?
Charlotte Latin's $36,500 Upper School rate is the highest of the four schools compared here for 2026-27, by $175 over Providence Day. The three secular schools, Charlotte Latin, Providence Day School and Charlotte Country Day School, price within $3,625 of one another at every grade. Charlotte Christian School, a faith-based school, runs $6,300 to $9,445 a year less than Charlotte Latin.
| School | Kindergarten | Grades 1 to 5 | Grades 6 to 8 | Grades 9 to 12 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charlotte Latin School | $27,600 | $32,600 | $35,200 | $36,500 |
| Providence Day School | $28,010 | $32,960 | $36,325 | $36,325 |
| Charlotte Country Day School | $25,725 | $30,375 (grades 1 to 4) | $32,700 (grades 5 to 8) | $34,075 |
| Charlotte Christian School | $21,300 | not published online | not published online | $27,055 |
Sources: each school's 2026-27 tuition page, listed below. Providence Day prices grades 6 to 12 at a single $36,325 rate, and its transitional kindergarten is $25,510. Country Day's junior kindergarten is $24,515. Charlotte Christian publishes only its lowest and highest rates as text and adds a $1,500 enrollment deposit, a $1,250 new family fee and a $300 installment fee for its 10-month payment plan.
The spread matters less than the structure. All four schools collect a deposit at enrollment, and none of the four publishes a multi-year rate; Providence Day states on its page that its rates are subject to change for 2027-2028. A family comparing the four should compare the total over the years the child will attend, not a single year's rate.

What does Charlotte Latin cost over 13 years?
$469,800 is the tuition bill for a child who enters Charlotte Latin in transitional kindergarten and graduates in 12th grade, at 2026-27 rates with no increases. The arithmetic: two years at $27,600 ($55,200), five years at $32,600 ($163,000), three years at $35,200 ($105,600) and four years at $36,500 ($146,000). Starting in kindergarten instead cuts it to $442,200. Upper School alone, grades 9 to 12, is $146,000.
Those totals are a floor. The school does not publish its annual increase, and the fee schedule above adds the $2,500 deposit once per enrollment plus the trip advances in grades 5 to 8 and 12. Two children in grades 1 to 12 at the same time means a family carrying $65,200 to $73,000 a year in tuition during the overlap, before fees, books and extended day. For a household weighing that against a mortgage, the Charlotte luxury market page shows what $1.5 million to $3 million buys in the neighborhoods those families tend to choose.
How much financial aid does Charlotte Latin give?
$3.25 million in financial aid went to Charlotte Latin students in the 2024-2025 school year, the most recent year the school reports. The average tuition aid award was $17,900, which covers about half of a Lower School year and just under half of an Upper School year at 2026-27 rates. Aid accounted for 6% of the school's operating budget. Thirty-six students received awards from 17 endowed scholarships. The school states that it strives to meet up to 100% of demonstrated need for each enrolled student, and it does not publish the share of students receiving aid.
For comparison, Charlotte Country Day reports that 341 students, about 20% of its enrollment, receive $9.4 million a year, and Providence Day reports that approximately 21% of families receive some form of assistance. Charlotte Christian caps grants at 50% of tuition. Charlotte Latin's aid application opens September 15 and closes January 15, 2027, for priority-round decisions. Aid is need-based; a family that expects to qualify should file by the priority date.
Where do Charlotte Latin families buy homes?
Charlotte Latin's 128-acre campus sits at 9502 Providence Road in the 28277 ZIP code, so the neighborhoods that feed it run along Providence Road from Ballantyne Country Club and Providence Country Club south into Union County's Weddington, Marvin and Waxhaw, and east toward Matthews. Canopy MLS closed sales for the 180 days ending October 22, 2026, from the October 2026 closings report, put a figure on each.

| Marvin | 12 | 10 | $1,333,393 | 15 | 99% |
| Waxhaw | 577 | 143 | $700,000 | 23 | 99% |

Three readings. Ballantyne Country Club is the only area on the list where every closing topped $1 million, and its 42-day median is the slowest, which says the golf community trades on a smaller buyer pool at a higher price. Weddington posted a higher median than Ballantyne Country Club on three times the volume and sold in a median 11 days at full list price, which makes it the most competitive market on the list for a Latin family wanting acreage. Marvin, Waxhaw and Matthews offer the broader entry points: Waxhaw alone closed 143 sales above $1 million in the period, the most of any area here.

Mitch Boraski represented the buyer of 11810 Dan Maples Drive in Providence Country Club, a $1,075,000 purchase in the same 28277 ZIP code as the school. Providence Country Club is not broken out as its own row in the closings report. Families also weighing Country Day or Providence Day often search Myers Park, Eastover and Foxcroft; the Charlotte private schools and luxury real estate guide maps all three schools to their neighborhoods, and the best school districts guide covers the public alternatives.
When are Charlotte Latin applications due?
Three dates govern the 2026-27 admission cycle, per the school's admissions page: sibling applications for kindergarten through 12th grade were due October 15, 2026; applications for grades 1 to 11 are due January 15, 2027; and financial aid applications are due the same day, January 15, 2027. The school enrolls more than 1,500 students in transitional kindergarten through 12th grade on one campus, and describes itself as an accredited, independent, coeducational, non-sectarian, college-preparatory day school.
Charlotte Latin opened in 1970 with 425 students on about 50 acres; the campus has since grown to 128 contiguous acres, according to the school's Wikipedia entry. A family relocating for the 2027-28 year should treat the January 15 date as fixed and the home search as the flexible piece. In the Providence Road corridor and Union County, Weddington's median 11 days on market means a buyer who waits for the admission decision before looking is shopping a spring market that has already moved. The practical sequence is to apply by January 15, get pre-approved in the same month, and have a buyer's agent tracking Weddington, Marvin and Ballantyne Country Club inventory before the decision arrives. Mitch Boraski, MBA, handles that search for relocating families; the schedule a meeting page books a call.
